FAQs – Arlberg Ski Club

Where is Arlberg Ski Club?

Arlberg Ski club is one of the most accessible clubs on the Whakapapa side of Mt Ruapehu. It is located on the Loop Road at the “Top of the Bruce”. The lodge is close to the road and overnight parking areas and just five minutes walk from the first chairlift. Click HERE. for a location map.

How do I become a member?

To join up, just ask a member to sponsor you. If you don't know any members, no problem, just contact a member of the Committee. New members are expected to attend two work party/orientation weekends at the club. These are lots of fun and provide a great opportunity to meet other members and get a feel for what the Arlberg Ski Club has to offer. The first work party needs to be completed within 12 months of joining, with the second completed within two years. To find out more click here.

What does it cost?

Accommodation is charged on a per night basis. During the ski season it's $40 for members and $85 for guests which includes dinner, bed and breakfast. These fees are kept low to encourage occupancy.  Members book their accommodation through the website and pay using Paypal.

Membership costs include an annual subscription of $235 (215 if paid my May 31st) for members over 19 and $120 for members between 12 and 19. This covers general operating costs and helps to maintain the Club's buildings. There is also a one-off entrance fee. Details of the current fees are available HERE.

When I stay what do I need to bring?

Food - The club provides all the food required for breakfast and dinner during the winter season. Members are required to bring what ever food they require for lunch (or purchase it on the mountain) and what ever snacks and refreshments (beer, wine etc) you may require.

Sleeping – The club provides each person with a bed including mattress and pillow, members and guests need to bring sheets, pillow cases (essential) and blankets or sleeping bags.

Personal effects -You need to bring all your usual personal effects as you normally would for visiting the mountain, please note this includes towels.

Can Members take guests?

Guests are welcome. A member can have up to 5 guests at one time. However, guest bookings are not confirmed until the Monday night prior. Members have priority up until the Monday night before the weekend.

Will I be expected to share a bunkroom?

Whenever possible families or groups are put together in a bunkroom but there may be times when this isn't possible.

How far ahead do I have to book?

As early as possible to ensure a bunk. Reservations can be refunded if canceled by 7.30 pm Wednesday evening for the following weekend.

Is there a waiting list?
